This Japanese Kotatsu table dates from the Taishō Era which started in 1912 and ended in 1926.

The Kotatsu table was used to keep warm in the winter months by placing a heat source underneath with a blanket over the top. You could then sit along side it or on it to warm up.

This item will show some imperfections consistent with use and age which add to its beauty and are not considered as flaws. One of the wooden slats has been broken on this item.
