Gurage cereal container No 1

This wooden cereal container is made by the Gurage people of Ethiopia and dates from the early 20th century. Carved in one piece of wood this mortar was traditionally used for storing grain.

This item will show some imperfections consistent with use and age which add to it’s beauty and are not considered as flaws.
