Antique pot No 319

n antique earthenware pot from Shanxi Province in northern China, traditionally used for storing water or vegetable oil.

The pot is characterised by the beautiful contrast between its raw, unglazed clay body and the dark glazed neck and rim. The glaze has worn and softened with age, creating a distinctive irregular finish against the earthy, textured surface of the vessel.

Handmade from local clay, its generous rounded form and wonderfully aged patina bear the traces of its original use, making each piece entirely unique.

Once a purely functional household object, it is now a striking sculptural piece, bringing warmth, texture and history to an interior.

Variations, irregularities and signs of age are considered part of the character and authenticity of these antique pieces.

For decorative use. Due to its age and porous, unglazed body, we recommend using a watertight inner container if displaying with fresh flowers or water.
